E’ uscito ieri, 26 febbraio, il nuovo videoclip degli Steel Pulse. Il singolo è “Put Your Hoodies On”, rilasciato negli scorsi mesi e di cui è disponibile anche una versione acustica di David Hinds, frontman dell band britannica. La versione originale invece vede anche la collaborazione di Baruch Hinds, figlio di David.
Il videoclip esce a due anni esatti dalla morte di Trayvon Martin avvenuta il 26 febbraio 2012 a Sanford, in Florida. Il giovane ragazzo afro-americano morì a soli 17 anni ucciso dal poliziotto George Zimmerman che gli sparò in pieno petto. Trayvon si stava recando con il padre a far visita alla compagna, con il ragazzo che si era allontanato un momento per entrare in un negozio per acquistare caramelle e succhi di frutta. Zimmerman dopo aver avvistato Trayvon uscire dal negozio e aggirarsi per le vie di Sanforf incappucciato, telefonò al 911 spiegando di aver avvistato uno dei “fottuti teppisti… uno di questi stronzi“, che riescono sempre a farla franca. Pochi istanti dopo ci fu una discussione tra i due e Trayvon, disarmato, venne colpito da uno sparo.
Una storia che ha fatto il giro del mondo e che ancora oggi fa parlare per la discriminazione razziale e per il fatto che l’assassino di Trayvon è ancora a piede libero. Con questo brano gli Steel Pulse ricordano il giovane ragazzo e tramite il videoclip vengono ricostruite alcune scene di questa vicenda.
